What we do

Commercial cooling, looked after properly

Commercial refrigeration is a specialist trade. A cold room breakdown means lost stock and lost trading, so we treat every call-out as a priority.

Who we look after

The businesses we keep running

Commercial cooling covers a lot of ground. If your trade depends on stock staying at temperature, or on customers being comfortable, it is work we do every week.

Hospitality

  • Pubs, inns and hotels
  • Restaurants and gastropubs
  • Cafés, delis and coffee shops

Food & Drink

  • Butchers, bakers and fishmongers
  • Farm shops and food producers
  • Breweries and bottle shops

Retail

  • Supermarkets
  • Convenience stores and village shops
  • Holiday parks and campsites

Care & Community

  • Care homes
  • Village halls and community buildings

Education & Workplaces

  • Schools, colleges and nurseries
  • Offices, salons and server rooms

Producers & Specialist Sites

  • Farm shops and food producers
  • Breweries and bottle shops
  • Cold stores and packing rooms

Different businesses. Different cooling demands.

Every one of those has different demands. A village shop needs a display cabinet that holds temperature through a hot Bank Holiday with the door opening every thirty seconds. A care home kitchen has to evidence food safety records. A pub cellar has to hold eleven to thirteen degrees through a Saturday night with the hatch open. We size, install and maintain for the job in front of us rather than fitting whatever is on the shelf.
Planned maintenance

Planned preventative
maintenance

Our maintenance agreements include planned visits through the year, agreed to suit your equipment. Each visit includes:
Inspect equipment condition and operation
Check refrigerant pressures and temperatures
Inspect for visible refrigerant leaks
Clean accessible condenser and evaporator coils
Check compressors, fans and motors
Inspect electrical terminals and controls
Check filters, condensate trays and drains
Verify thermostat/controller operation
Record electrical and operating readings
Issue a written service report with recommendations
Cabinet or cold room running warmer than its set point
Ice building up on the evaporator or around the door
The unit runs constantly and never cycles off
Unusual noise from the condensing unit
Water pooling underneath or inside the cabinet
Electricity bills climbing with no change in trade
The system trips the breaker or keeps resetting
Cellar cooling not holding its set temperature
When to call

Signs your equipment
needs attention

Most breakdowns give warning first. Catching any of these early is almost always cheaper than an emergency call-out and a skip full of stock.
If you have noticed any of these, ring us before it fails properly. A refrigerant leak found on a service visit is a straightforward repair; the same leak found on a Friday night is a lost weekend of trading, a claim on your stock, and a food safety problem you have to evidence afterwards.
Breakdowns

When it stops holding temperature

Call us to book a breakdown visit, a service or a quote for new equipment. Faults are diagnosed on site by our engineers.
How we work

What happens when you call us out

You deal directly with us, not a call centre.

You ring us

Call us and we will book an engineer to attend. Faults are diagnosed on site, not over the phone.

We attend

An engineer attends with common parts on the van, so many faults can be fixed on the first visit.

You get it in writing

You receive your F-Gas records and a written report of the work carried out, with advice on any further repairs or replacement.
Coverage

Carlisle to Barrow, coast to the Eden Valley

Our engineers cover the whole of Cumbria, every working day.
Where we work

Towns across Cumbria

North Cumbria and the Eden Valley

Carlisle, Penrith, Brampton, Wigton, Appleby-in-Westmorland and Kirkby Stephen are covered on a northern round. Most of the work up here is commercial refrigeration for the city's convenience stores, restaurants and care homes, along with cellar cooling for the pubs and hotels, and air conditioning for offices and salons.

The Lakes and the south

Kendal, Windermere, Ambleside, Keswick, Coniston, Kirkby Lonsdale, Sedbergh and Grange-over-Sands are tourist towns where kitchens and cellars work hardest in season. We fit and service VRF and multi-split systems for hotels, keep display cabinets running for delis and farm shops, and handle breakdowns and call-outs through the summer.

The west coast

Whitehaven, Workington, Cockermouth, Maryport, Egremont, Cleator Moor, Silloth and Seascale sit on the coastal run. Salt air is hard on condensers, so this is where planned servicing earns its keep, and where a lot of our cold room repair and installation work comes from.

Furness and the far west

Barrow-in-Furness, Ulverston, Dalton-in-Furness, Millom, Haverigg, Bootle and Broughton-in-Furness are on our doorstep — we are based at Steel Green in Haverigg. We cover everything from heat pump servicing to air handling unit maintenance. If you are unsure whether you are in range, ring us: we cover the whole of Cumbria.
